"Dammit” is a small word, but it packs a punch, times of frustration, surprise, and sometimes reaching the limit of my patience or tolerating a situation or person. This feelings of me facing repeated annoyances. I take a moment to look at the benefits and the role it plays in my life.

First off, saying “dammit” releases my frustration. Whether I'm stuck in traffic, dealing with unexpected sh*t, or struggling to put new pieces of writing together, this simple word provides me a moment of relief. It’s a way to acknowledge annoyance without going crazy.

For me the word “dammit” serves as a reminder that it’s okay not to have it all together. Life is messy, and mistakes are part of the journey. When things don’t go our way, maybe we just need to throw our hands up and say, “dammit!”—and then move on.

I catch a connection with the word like “dammit!” It’s a universal experience in moments with friends, family, or whomever and sharing that mutual eye roll followed by a laugh or a “dammit,” it shows us that we are not alone in our struggles.

Ok, “dammit” sometimes, can show a need for improvement. That moment leads us to look over our situation, or take action. After all, it’s in those “dammit” times that we’re often inspired to make bold decisions and pursue new challenges.

So the next time you find yourself in a tight spot, don’t shy away from saying the “dammit” within you—after all, it’s perfectly not perfect! 👉🏾👈🏾
