Whatsup! Trying to keep up with the Gen Z lingos? The slangs of this generation is always changing, and some of these words can leave you scratching your own heads. "Pause" has taken on new meaning, amongst the younger generation. Before this "pause" simply meant to stop for a short time—think pressing pause on your tv or pausing a song. (Often "Yo, pause!") is used to call out something someone said that's weird or "out of pocket." It's a signal for them to stop and think about what your saying, similar to "no homo," sometimes used playfully to stop the convo or question the speaker that is talking. So If someone says something unbelievable or strange, you say "pause" "Wait, what did you just say? "Pause, I didn't mean it like that!" It can just mean "stop the conversation for a sec" because something wild or funny happened.
For many of us folks, "pause" is a reminder to slow down in a busy life and a way to signal a need for a moment of clarity or to prevent acting out before thinking. Recognizing when to slow down and appreciate the present. It’s more than just stopping. It’s about making space for yourself in a crowded, noisy world.
