As authors, we create, bring our ideas to life, and share our stories with others. We pour our hearts out into writing, sacrificing sleep in the process. What happens when we reach a point where we're feeling stuck? My answer is: we need to take a break.
Taking a break from writing can be difficult. We feel like we're letting ourselves down, or that taking time off will only make it harder to get back into the groove of things. But the truth is, taking a break is good for our creativity.
When we write without giving ourselves time to rest and charge up, we risk being burned out. So by taking a break, we give ourselves permission to step away from our work and come back to it with a new sense of purpose.
When we're not constantly writing, we're free to explore new interests, try new things, and engage in activities that bring us joy.
Believe it or not, taking a break can actually improve myself in the long run. When we come back to our writing after a break, we're often more focused, more organized, and more motivated.
Writing can be a stressful activity, especially when you have deadlines. Taking a break helps prioritize my mental health.
Finally, when we take care of ourselves outside of our writing lives, we're better equipped to show up fully when we do sit down wherever.
So when do you know it's time to take a break? And for how long? Pay attention to your body and mind. If you're feeling exhausted, uninspired, or stuck, it might be time to step away from your writing for a little while. Take a few days off, or a week or two – whatever feels right for you.
Remember that taking breaks is smart. So go ahead and take that break - you deserve it 👉🏾👈🏾
