""I Don't Recollect""

As a writer, I've often found myself struggling to recollect the details of my own thoughts. I'm ready to put my thoughts into words, only to discover that if I don't jot it down quick enough it will get away from me. It’s as if my ideas are a flock of birds, just moments ago, were flying all in my mind, but now left me trying to remember where they have gone.
I jot down notes like everytime, hoping it will take me back to my creative space. Yet there are days when even that doesn't feel like enough, just lost to distraction. The more I chase after my thoughts, the more it gets away from me.
What’s crazy, though, is the fact that my experience happens to many of us creators that has the same mind set. I create to remember, yet sometimes, in the times of creating, I forget. This creative process is not always easy and in line. Sometimes, it requires patience and acceptance of my chaotic thought process.
So, what do I do? I step back and stare at the blank page, allowing it to help me see what's on the page instead of it being a source of stress for me. I look for inspiration from my senses —the scent of fresh air, the water fall from my fountain in my living room. These moments often spark a new train of thought, leading me down paths I might never have explored had I been holding too tightly to my forgotten ideas.
In my moments, I remind myself that writing isn’t just about creating perfect sentences or capturing ideas. Sometimes, my thoughts that I forget are opportunities for new thoughts waiting to be written.
So, when I forget my thoughts, I choose to see it not as an obstacle but as an invite to rediscover my creative style in a different way. After all, isn’t that what me being a writer is all about? And who knows? You never know, me searching for what was forgotten will lead me to something even greater. 👉🏾👈🏾
